Robbing people their voice
The several cases of dismissal, disqualification or suspension from positions of the people-elected local officials seem to be robbing these electorates their voice/s. Politicians who were elected with resounding nod from their constituents through landslide votes versus their opponents are suddenly uprooted from their posts mostly due to purported cases filed against them either in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and/or the Office of the Ombudsman. This trend that is taking place months before elections is sending a clear message that the choice of who to lead a particular local government unit is no longer solely decided by the people but even by these bodies through filed complaints or cases. If not checked seriously, a time will surely come that nobody would trust elections anymore. They said the people’s choices are easily damped through legal decisions. As if the voice of the majority is no longer followed and their will no longer respected. Even the Supreme Court is already being cast doubt if its decisions are not influenced by any other consideration but the truth. Quo vadis Philippines!
